Nonfiction about ships and the sea but not about wars or battles

Years ago I read "In the Heart of the Sea" and I was enthralled. I still think about that book and would love to read more like it. Earlier this week I went to look for something in this vein, but the bookstore only had books about maritime battles and things like that. I would love some suggestions!

Real close to done, not sure if I should be worried about upcoming changes

I'm sorry for asking a variation of a question that's been asked tons but I did do my homework and read similar posts! They just made me more confused. Here's my situation: I've been on PAYE forever. I'm currently at 118 payments and I plan to submit my final ECF in August. Does the July 1 date mean anything for me? I'm seeing two messages: 1) yes, you will need to switch to a new plan and 2) no, PAYE borrowers are grandfathered in.

The thought of making any changes so near to the end is stressing me out so I thought I would ask! Thanks everyone, I appreciate this sub so much!

Hi everyone,

I'll be visiting Hawaii for the first time, a trip I've been dreaming of since I was a kid! I'm a single mom with two teens and we'll be staying at the Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island. As I'm planning, I have a few questions:

  1. One of the kids is not a strong swimmer/isn't very comfortable in water. Is there a way to see mantas without actually getting into the water? I would love to do one of the night snorkels but I don't want to add that stress to my kid or to anyone else (tour guides, etc.)

  2. Driving from Mauna Kea at night...I feel nervous. Last summer we visited Rocky Mountain National Park and I discovered I really don't enjoy driving on steep, narrow roads at night with my kids in the car. Is there reason to be nervous? Should we consider a tour so I don't have to worry about driving? If so, any recommendations?

  3. Lastly, the three of us are avid readers. Any local bookstore recommendations would be great!

Thank you so much for any guidance, I'm sooooo looking forward to this trip!
