Not “allowed” to call in sick

Can a job not “allow” you to call in sick? It’s a one person kitchen at a daycare. Because they have no one to cover, they won’t allow sick days. Which I think is unreasonable, working with kids means getting sick is inevitable. Also it’s technically breaking food safety standards to handle food when sick. I just wanna know my rights before going into this job. Thanks!
