Hi everyone,

This might sound a bit unusual, but I’ve been seriously considering stepping away from my e-commerce business to move into a more stable, structured role for the next couple of years.

Over the past year, I built and ran my own D2C brand completely solo — from product sourcing and order fulfillment to handling 300+ customers and scaling to ₹4L+ in revenue in a short time. I was also managing Meta Ads (campaigns, ad sets, targeting, creatives), testing different angles, and optimizing based on performance.

On the operations side, I got used to handling everything — logistics, issue resolution, returns, and maintaining customer satisfaction. Basically, full ownership of the entire pipeline.

At the same time, I’ve been working in a communication + sales role where I handle calls, objection handling, and conversions daily, which has made me a lot more confident in dealing with people and solving problems in real time.

But running something on your own also comes with unpredictability, and lately I’ve been feeling the need for more stability, structure, and the chance to learn how things operate inside a proper team and system.

I’m particularly interested in roles around customer support / CRM tools (like Zoho Desk), operations, or anything where I can build deeper expertise while contributing from day one.

The plan isn’t to quit entrepreneurship forever — just to step back, learn, gain structured experience, and come back stronger in a few years.

Does this kind of transition make sense? And how do companies usually view someone making this shift?

Would really appreciate any perspectives.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been thinking about transitioning into customer support / CRM-based roles (especially tools like Zoho Desk), but I’m a bit confused about how my background would be perceived.

I don’t have traditional company experience in customer support, but I did run my own e-commerce brand for a while. During that time, I handled everything end-to-end — from product sourcing and order fulfillment to managing 300+ customers, resolving queries, and maintaining satisfaction. The brand did around ₹4L+ in revenue in a short span, so it wasn’t just a small experiment.

On top of that, I’m currently working in a part-time role where I handle communication, sales, and client interaction daily (calls, objection handling, conversions, etc.), so I’m pretty comfortable talking to customers and solving problems in real-time.

I also have basic exposure to CRM tools like Zoho Desk, decent typing speed (~35 WPM), and a proper remote setup.

I guess what I’m trying to understand is — do companies actually consider this kind of experience valid for entry-level support roles, or do they strictly prefer candidates with prior company background?

Would love to hear how people here made similar transitions or how hiring managers view this.

Thanks :)
