For context, I was born, raised, and grew up American. I found out I have Scots-Irish, German, Italian, and English heritage on my father's side, and Native American on my mother's. I've always felt connected to Italian and Irish culture and folklore, much to the disdain of my father (he always tried to make me connect with my mother's ancestry). I've been thinking about my heritage a lot more lately, and with all the research I've done it all lines with with what I was told. I can't afford a DNA test but plan to get one when/if I can if curiosity serves. I've never travelled or experienced the cultures I'm connected to outside of movies and music.
Is it wrong to feel connected to these cultures? It isn't just a surface level thing- I've always felt connected to them- the Irish heritage especially- but I was born and raised American with no cultural influence, so I'm worried I'm doing something wrong somehow. I don't say I'm Irish, or even Irish-American.
I apologize if this isn't the right place for this question.
