All I remember about these books:

It was a series. Not sure how many books but there were at least two. I'm american and they were in English and I believe they weren't translated but I could be wrong.
It was not Maximun ride.
They went back in time(?) and inhabited people's bodies when they did(?) And they could only go back to each place once or something? I feel like I remember them having disguises like inherently and were treated as other people or something??
I'm about 75% sure they had wings.
In the second book a girl cuts herself when cutting up an apple and it heals immediately and thats where she learns she has powers.
In that book or the book after it, the main boy was going to some kind of court or counsil or something. I think he was in trouble for something may lose his wings/job... and he had to train the new girl?
I think while the mc of the first book was back in time then, he fought a big shadow creature. But I can't be 100% on that.
The first two books at least had to have been out before 2010. I was reading these from my school's library when I was a freshmen that year.

Iit's been quite a while as you can tell lol. This is everything I remember about the books.
