I lived here for almost 2 years and just recently learned that parking on city streets between 2am-6am is not allowed. (208-16a)

Is there a reason why this parking code exists? Is it viewed favorably by the public? I understand some parking restrictions for snow removal, street cleaning etc. But an outright ban on overnight parking, everynight seems excessive.

Where are you supposed to park overnight outside of downtown if you don't have access to a private lot?

[Update] I've found an article from 2023 discussing a 1k overnight parking pass for Glens Falls. My takeaway is that the previous mayor, Bill Collins, is quoted saying "It’s not written anywhere, but it’s clearly the underlying intention of the current laws that exist. No parking overnight? Nobody can really remember why we passed that law.”
