I am a 27m and I am so exhausted and tired of modern dating. I try using Hinge to match with women, and 95% of the time I don’t get a match. The ones that do match with me, 80% of them never respond or don’t message back after 1 text. That leaves me with a small % but hey that’s dating. Except for the fact that I have been cancelled on last minute (like as I’m leaving the house) 3 times in a row by various women after setting a date up with no intention of planning or rescheduling. I’m so tired of it.

The worst part is I know it’s not me because the same stuff happens to my other friends within my age range. We’re all decent looking guys who work out with very respectable jobs and have good personalities and we’re looking to settle down and get married. Yet, we get ghosted, ignored, cancelled on, stood up and led on over and over again. I’m so sick of it. And then I get family asking why I’m still single.

I truly believe as a society we have made a huge mistake as to what we value, when I see women in relationships with these men who have no job, are rude to them and treat them like shit, and offer them nothing; but at least they’re 6 foot 2 and “hot”.

And I don’t want to come across as sexist or simply blame one gender, but it’s really hard to not feel like most issues in dating come from women and their unrealistic expectations in men and how they treat dating as a game or just use the dating app as a validation tool. I think social media in general has skewed the idea of relationships and value of men into a very negative light, and it’s really frustrating. I think it’s time to delete the apps again and just accept the reality we live in.
