My CCNA experience

Hello guys,

I just passed my CCNA yesterday and I want to give you some tips and feedback on how I studied for the exam. I also want to thank all the people on this sub who helped me by giving good advice.

So, to study for the CCNA I used Neil Anderson’s course and Jeremy’s IT Lab. I watched all of Neil’s videos and Jeremy’s videos, and I did all of Neil’s flashcards and labs as well.

I would recommend watching videos from different people about the same topic (for example STP) to get different points of view. It can also help if you didn’t understand one instructor’s explanation.

I would say that overall Neil’s and Jeremy’s courses are enough for the CCNA. The only topic where I think their courses lack information is the WLC GUI. Honestly, I passed the exam with a good score (I am giving my results at the end of this post), but for the WLC GUI in the CCNA exam the questions were more advanced than what Neil and Jeremy teach, so I would strongly advise you to learn the WLC GUI more in depth. For the rest, Neil’s and Jeremy’s courses are great.

For the exam simulation tests I took Boson ExSim, as well as Jeremy’s Exam Pack 1. I also tried some dumps you can find on the internet and mock exams made by AI.

From all of them, the dumps you can find on the internet are the closest to the questions you would find in the real CCNA exam. I still strongly advise you to take the Boson ExSim subscription because the way Boson tests you (2 hours, 4 labs and 69 questions) is exactly the same as the real CCNA exam, so it can help you understand how to pass the test.

For the Boson ExSim mock exams, I would say that their labs are much more difficult than the CCNA ones. Honestly, I was surprised at how easy the CCNA exam labs were. The multiple-choice questions, however, are a bit easier than the real CCNA, I would say. The thing is that the way the questions are asked during the CCNA exam is quite confusing. Not all questions, because some are very clear and straightforward, but I found that on average the questions were trickier in the actual CCNA exam.

My scores for the CCNA:
Automation and Programmability: 80%
Network Access: 95%
IP Connectivity: 96%
IP Services: 100%
Security Fundamentals: 93%
Network Fundamentals: 95%

My scores on the Boson exams on my first try:
Exam A: 78%
Exam B: 84%
Exam C: 77%
Exam D: 81%
Exam E: 80%

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask in the comments.
