IRONMAN 70.3 BIKE

Hello. I bought a bike not so long ago to go to places instead of harming myself or thinking of putting an end to my life. I did not think much of what type of bicycle to buy as long as it would take me to places, and I can ride it as soon as possible. The bike that I bought is a mountain bike.

After weeks of cycling, I discovered endurance sports—specifically triathlons. Now, I wake up early to run, cycle, or swim throughout the week because I’ve decided to train for an IRONMAN. However, I’ve noticed most athletes use dedicated triathlon or road bikes. Since I used my savings for my current bike and am still looking for a part-time job to afford a road bike and the IRONMAN 70.3 entrance fee, I have a question: Is it allowed to use a mountain bike with a 'crit setup' in an IRONMAN 70.3?
