Need honest advice: Can I pivot into PM without direct PM work experience?

27F here. Not naming the company or even the exact industry because I genuinely don’t want to get identified 😭

Currently working in a very target-heavy corporate role, and the work culture has become mentally exhausting. Uneven allocation of work/resources, unrealistic expectations, constant pressure, random blame, poor management.overall just a very draining environment.

I’ve realized I don’t see myself doing this long-term and want to switch into Product Management.

Background:
- Engineering from a good college
- Tier-1 MBA
- ~2–3 years total work ex across different domains
- Had a PM internship during MBA
- But no direct full-time PM experience

So I wanted practical advice from people who’ve made similar switches:

- Is it realistically possible to move into PM from a non-PM role at 27?
- What kind of roles should I target first?
- What roadmap would you suggest over the next 6–12 months?
- What actually helps in PM hiring right now — projects, networking, certifications, referrals, case prep, etc.?

Would really appreciate honest advice, especially from people already working in PM.
