More Difficult to breathe AFTER taking fluticasone propionate?
I got diagnosed with asthma recently and have been given my first inhaler. I’ve always got on fine, but I have had some of the symptoms (prolonged respiratory infections, trouble breathing during cardio, and I have severe allergies on top of that). I tested normal during spirometry but did have an increasing of lung capacity after the test steroid was administered and my doctor diagnosed me with asthma. I had previously controlled a lot of my problems with Flonase nasal spray and a daily loratadine tablet.
He put me on a low dose of fluticasone propionate (125mcg). I have not used any other asthma inhaler medication before. After my first dose, within the next few hours I began, for the first time to feel like I had asthma. My chest feels tight, a deep breath hurts, and I have a very very quiet wheeze when I breathe through my mouth.
Is this something I need to tough out, feel worse before I feel better. Is there something wrong? During the test I felt pretty good after the inhaler, but had different side effects (shaking, higher heart rate). This is so new to me, and I liked how I felt before the puffer better.
I don’t know if I should be discontinuing use and just contacting my doctor after one dose.
