Does the expansion of space add energy to the system?
For example:
If two massive objects are some distance apart and accelerate towards each other, they would gain kinetic energy. If space caused the objects to move further away, they would have more time/space to accelerate, leading to higher kinetic energy?
I was thinking about the big bang and when particles were really close/dense and how fast they'd be pulled together, but the rapid expansion of the universe causing the kinetic energy to grow.
