Old LA house with lath and plaster throughout. Spectrum modem/router sits at one end of the house, my home office is at the opposite corner, maybe 25-30 feet away. Been dropping video calls consistently. Was about to buy a Wi-Fi 7 router thinking that would fix it, but after some research I think the real issue is the plaster walls, not the router. Apparently metal lath basically acts as a mesh cage for RF signals, so throwing more GHz at it might make things worse not better. Found a coax outlet in the bedroom right next to my office. Currently thinking: goCoax MA2500D 2-pack to run MoCA over the existing coax, then hang a second router off that as a wired access point. Anyone done this in an older LA home with lath and plaster? Does the coax need to be on the same splitter leg as the modem for MoCA to work? Any gotchas I should know before buying?
