Just finished reading “The Blazing Heiress” and I have THOUGHTS
This book was recommended on this sub a few days ago. I read the prologues and the writing style alone was enough to hook me.
Initially, the story feels a little like your typical Wattpad rich people romance.. but as it progresses it stops feeling tropey and starts becoming emotionally layered - the family dynamics, emotional damage, backstories, and character motivations.
Avani is one of the most frustrating female leads I’ve read in a while. I both loved and hated her throughout the book. She’s arrogant, rude, selfish, strong and emotionally exhausting many times, very messy, but her diary entries changes how she is viewed underneath all that hate and anger. there is so much grief and loneliness. She hurts people and the author makes her face consequences for it .
Sammy and Viransh carried parts of this book for me. Sammy’s scenes were short but man he is probably the only honest character. He is selfless but not weak. Viransh is emotionally mature, selfless. The way he is with Avani , patient and loves her without conditions. Though I do want to see more of his individuality outside of just being you centered around her.
The story does gets better with every chapter. The last diary entries were brutal. The past of Avani and Denzel wrecked me but I knew from the start he wasn’t right for her. The other side characters like both of their families are interesting. Most of them are equally selfish and cunning, some are charming also its implied there is more to their story
All said, the book could’ve been better. The writing is beautiful, but sometimes it tries too hard to be beautiful. But I think its her first ever book. There were sections where the descriptions are dragged so much I started skimming. Some emotional scenes would’ve hit harder with simpler, sharper wording instead of metaphors. The beginning also could’ve been tighter because the real emotional and plot depth takes a while to fully kick in. And Avani in recent chapters crossed the line from emotionally guarded into insufferently rude for no reason.
Overall though, this was way better than I expected it to be. Messy, emotional, frustrating, dramatic but also memorable. It has layered characters, strong emotional tension.
There is a sequel. I’m really hoping the author continues developing it well because the potential is absolutely there.
