Entry-level roles or internships before Masters in Social Work?
Hi everyone, I’m in Washington state and looking for advice on entry-level jobs or internships in behavioral health, social services, or community-based care.
I have a background in psychology, church-based leadership, recovery ministry, community service, and cross-cultural outreach. My long-term goal is clinical social work, with interests in trauma-informed care, behavioral health, and immigrant/refugee services.
I’m looking into roles like behavioral health tech, mental health tech, case aide, residential counselor, social services assistant, refugee services assistant, youth support specialist, victim advocate, community outreach intern, or paid internships.
For those in the field, what entry-level roles, organizations, or settings would you recommend for strong MSW-relevant experience? I’m also open to hearing what short credentials are actually worth getting, such as CPR/BLS, Mental Health First Aid, QPR, or de-escalation training.
