My boss wants me to cut pieces of an AR steel plate and weld it into an excavator bucket. This bucket has holes and shit in the deep part of the curve. I’ve stick welded for 5+ years and started mig professionally at this job. I told him I’ve never welded anything like this before and’s he said “you’re a welder figure it out” doesn’t want to buy the actual pieces and doesn’t want to buy the proper electrodes for the job. What steps do I need to take for welding individual pieces of random AR plate into this bucket. He doesn’t care if the bucket loses volume.

Edit: I should have specified he doesn’t want to buy the rod and expects it to be done with mig only.

Never really mig welded before this job, besides with a shitty harbor freight welder. Most of my welds end up with this shiny spot usually at the very end of my bead. Also I’ll take any tips on how I can improve I want to be better with my mig welds.
