Just finished gears 2, how the Lambert infection go from "it's spreading but still 'managable' " in gears 2, to "it's a fucking apocalypse with exploding zombies" in 3, I'm missing something? How much time has passed?

(Only able to play the Xbox 360 ones, where I put judgement?)
