In the last two weeks I have lost 15 trees that have been healthy and thriving since at least December- and in some cases for many years. I have a dozen more that are alive for now, but starting to show the same pattern. I have no idea what is going on, but it's extremely aggressive and I'm hoping someone can help.
It starts with leaf damage or dead branch tips. The leaf damage progresses to completely stripped branches in some cases. I have no idea if this is insects eating the leaves or veriticillium wilt- but I cannot figure out how it's THIS aggressive and somehow hitting trees that I've picked up this year AND trees that I've had growing for a decade or more where cross contamination of the soil isn't possible. The leaves just end up vanishing without a trace... nothing at the base of the trees at all.
I have seen a ton of slugs and snails this year... but most of this doesn't line up with slug damage.
This was a healthy AP rainbow two weeks ago.
This Ghost Dancer is what all my trees looked like two weeks ago. It's healthy... for now.
Amagi Shigure starting the same progression. Leaf damage turns to dead branches turns to dead tree.
