I currently work in film and TV as an early-career freelancer, alongside projects in arts and culture, so I’m already quite embedded in the creative sector.

I’m really interested in moving into policy, particularly around media, culture, and sport, and the work happening within DCMS feels like a natural fit. I’m based in Manchester, so location-wise it also makes sense.

I’m trying to understand the entry routes, do people typically come in through the Civil Service and what are the best entry level positions to take?

What backgrounds are most valued, and what should I be doing now to make myself a strong candidate?
