Relocation for geophysicist in SLB?
Hi guys. I'm a geophysicist with 5+ years of seismic data processing experience (Omega, Petrel). I've been working in the same office the whole time and I want to relocate. Because I work in one place, I don't really have friends or colleagues in other locations to ask for advice.
I asked my direct manager and HR, and they said relocation is only possible based on business needs. Honestly, sometimes that sounds like a polite excuse :) I know that you have to be in the IM (International Mobile) Employee Group, but I am a Home Country Resident. HR said they will change my status only if company have business needs.
Anyway, how did you guys get transferred to another location? I know that a lot of field employees regularly relocate, but what about office staff? I really want to try working somewhere else :) Are there any Area Geophysicists or HR managers here who could give me some advice? I would love to hear any of your stories!
