Recently I've remembered an animated movie/show that I've watched a long time ago. I'm not sure if it was a whole movie, a show or maybe a movie in a few parts because I remember it ending before the plot was finished. It was definitely from the 80s or 90s due to the animation style.

The plot involved a group of kids going to different places to get cubes of ice, cocoa and some third ingredient (fire?) to put around a gate to make it open. I think it was due to someone being sick? I know there was also some creature going with them that could transform into different objects (I do remember them transforming into a ice cream cart or something). I do remember they went to a cold place full of ice and a desert I think?
