First of all, I absolutely adore Jennifer as Katniss — she looks great, and her acting is just incredible. But Courtney Eaton is exactly how I pictured her while reading the books.
I've seen so many debates about what Katniss should look like. In the books, Suzanne Collins writes about "olive skin," but that description feels pretty broad to me. That type can apply to people from the Mediterranean, mixed-race people, or Indigenous peoples. I think it really comes down to each reader's personal imagination. How did you picture her?
Second, the bread scene. I watched the movie first, so it just felt confusing, but after reading the book, it now seems so strange — considering they were supposed to be around 11. Maybe I'm missing some details, but why couldn't they just cast younger actors?
I also like Josh as Peeta, but while reading, I imagined his features to be a bit more feminine. Plus, I really missed some volume in his hair. Jeremy Sumpter is almost exactly how I saw him.
And as for Walker Scobell as young Finnick — I don't even need to say much. In my opinion, he's the most popular (and maybe the only) choice out there. If the Finnick book actually happens, I hope they include Johanna and Annie — both the women dear to him: one his best friend, the other the love of his life.
About a young Johanna: Kaya Scodelario is perfect in my eyes, but sadly she's aged out of the role, so my other pick is Sophie Thatcher. Yeah, she's already in her twenties, but I loved how she looked in Yellowjackets (the flashbacks with dark hair).
Annie was the hardest for me. Unfortunately, I couldn't find an actress who really matched, but I like Hannah Binke — that's how I imagined her, and probably her younger version too
