Commuting conundrum
I have recently secured a new job, which is 80 miles a day commute. This isn’t so bad, about 45 minutes each way.
My conundrum is this: is it time to move to an EV?
My current car (seat Leon Cupra 290) as you can guess, is crap on fuel. Previously my commute was 30miles/day so I didn’t mind. But my recent back of a fag paper calculations show that I will spend close to £4.5k this year on fuel, insurance, tax, tyres etc.
I’m not sure if I can justify that anymore. So I have been looking at Tesla model 3’s. They are priced very well and seem to be super cheap to run. I would aim to only charge it at night, at home.
Does anyone have any experience with moving from a very fun hot hatch to something quite sensible (and quiet)?
I have entertained the idea of a diesel saloon but if I’m going to sell my pride and joy I may go the whole hog.
