So, I have been running for about six months now. I started by slowly building up to 5km with walking intervals and things steadily improved. After I hit my first continuous 5km things improved significantly. The longest I’ve currently ran is 10km but my pacing is very slow.

My pace is between 8:00 and 8:30 min/km and it feels incredibly slow. My cardiovascular system can handle a lot more than that (for what it’s worth, my watch measures this running pace as me running in zone 1. Even for the 10km)

I started to increase my speed but as soon as I get close to 7:00 min/km my knees start flaring up. My knees then hurt for a few days to up to a week and I’m not able to run more than 4km.

Am I being impatient or are my knees just very bad? It’s difficult to stay motivated when I don’t feel like actually working out.

Please let me know!

It is about 2cm. Found in the Netherlands
