Engagement in Zim culture
So ini and my person are planning on getting married. He is originally from the UK
However, this was done through a series of discussions until 2 weeks ago he asked if I could be his wife. This was in a discussion not an engagement on one knee and a surprise nop. It was a pure conversation that he said he is ready to marry me. He told my parents and his that we are getting married everyone in both families knows now.
For some reason, I was ok with it and now are in the process of officially getting married. It just clicked in my brain that there was no engagement ring and I still feel happy about it however it feels strange as it is the norm.
It gets to my question kuti in Zim are they engagements in our culture?
My parents never got engaged, they just got married. Its so funny. He said if I wanted an engagement he will engage and do the whole social media thing lol
