I’m currently in the U.S. and planning to travel to India for visa stamping soon. I’m on an extension with the same employer, and my I-797A has been approved. However, I only have a soft copy (PDF) of the approval notice. I don’t have the original physical copy with me because fedex lost it and I haven’t applied for the replacement.
Has anyone been in a similar situation?
Can I travel internationally with just the soft copy?
Will it cause any issues while exiting the U.S. or re-entering?
Is the original I-797A required at the port of entry or visa interview?
The advice from my employer lawyer was that I would be able to travel but to travel at my own risk.
Would really appreciate any experiences or advice, especially from people who traveled on an extension without the original approval notice.
