Do you let students reschedule finals based on their travel schedule?

I'm just curious what profs of reddit have to say about this. Assume you follow the university final exam schedule, and the exam date and time for your class have been printed in the syllabus since the start of the semester. Say a student approaches you and asks if they can take their exam earlier because yours is their last one and it will be cheaper/more convenient/whatever for them to book their travel before your scheduled time. Do you say yes?

I said no, but I'm wondering if I'm in the minority.

I enjoyed your class. I am applying for graduate school and I thought you would be a good person to speak to my academic abilities and personal qualities. Would you be willing to write me a letter of recommendation? The deadline for the letter is May 1. Thank you, [email signature]

The above is very lightly paraphrased from an email I received YESTERDAY EVENING. When did I teach you? Which graduate program? Now hold on... you need the letter when?!

On the whole, students at my university are pretty good at requesting letters! I think this may have been the first time I've ever declined a request.

Students lurking in this subreddit: do not do this.
