NYSEG Issue?
Hi everyone, I’m wondering if anyone has dealt with something similar with NYSEG because I am extremely confused and stressed out.
This morning I woke up with no power and a shutoff notice on my door due to late payment. My account number and name was written on the paper so it is definitely from NYSEG. Earlier today, one NYSEG representative told me I needed to pay $224 to restore service. I called back later and another representative told me the amount to restore was actually $111.
When I called a third time ready to make the payment with my card, that representative told me my account does NOT show as disconnected on their end and also does not show that it is scheduled to be disconnected soon. I explained that my power is already off and that I literally had a shutoff notice on my door, but he said it would be “impossible to restore service” because the system is not showing a disconnect status.
He transferred me to a specialist who agreed with him and isn’t able to do anything “even if I make a payment” and said they would contact dispatch and call me back today.
Has anyone experienced this before? I have a reptile who needs the electricity on for their lamps even if we can deal with no electricity for a period of time otherwise.
For context, I’m currently on short-term disability medical leave, pregnant, and have a child in the home, so I’m trying to get this resolved as quickly as possible. I’m mainly just trying to understand what could be happening and whether anyone else has dealt with this with NYSEG before. I know I should’ve stayed current with the bill but life happens unfortunately, so please be kind.
