Completely progesterone intolerant?
Is anyone else seemingly completely intolerant to progesterone in all forms?
Ive always reacted poorly to progesterone in any form in the past, however was convinced to try it as part of a HRT regime to relieve perimenopause symptoms and increasingly awful PMDD.
Started on oral Prometrium (Micronized progesterone bioidentical progesterone) 100mg orally, I was an emotional wreck, it knocked me out within 20 minutes and I was so exhausted by it I couldn’t stand for fear of falling.
Cue, switch to using as a vaginal suppository.
I thought I was doing ok, but a deep depression and anxiety slowly crept over me. I thought it was my separation, which is awful and involves emotional abuse and coercive control…but I stopped taking it about 5 days ago as my period went missing entirely and I just didn’t feel like myself without the “good” part of my cycle. Lo and behold, I am feeling like myself again.
I think it was a side effect of the progesterone even though I’m told this is the safest way for women who are intolerant to it, who have PMDD, Autism & ADHD like myself.
