VA Pension Aid & Attendance application Risk to SMC?
I have 100% P&T SMC L 1/2 and currently do not meet the income requirements cause still working. I am looking to apply in about 5 years if stop working due to condition, get on SSDI and because 401k does act as countable income and looking to get that in Roth IRA and see what my earnings will be to meet income eligibility.
Everything is in VA healthcare now and social worker stated I would get my VA PCP to fill out A&A form after stopping work. From what I read, it does not trigger ratings review but rather looks at your rating (would help boost), medical records, countable income, and what VA PCP puts in form to determine eligibility.
Sorry just noticing there is so much out there. And just found out about one for the Homemaker (basically not in nursing home), as well as the VDC (still working), PCFAC (very, very hard) this year. The pension maybe one I can get few years after VDC. From what I know PCFAC, VDC and Homemaker do not trigger ratings review/C&P exam besides caregiver assessments. Correct me if wrong.
Anyone have insight on this and think I would be doing it right by transferring to Roth IRA quickly (have to wait about 3 years after due to checking income history) to be eligible for this A&A? Will it risk my SMC? How long it took to get approved? Is it new claim?
Thank you.
