Found a new thing that hEDS affects: Walking on the sand. I went to a bonfire on the beach with a group of friends on 4/20 only for all them to start laughing whenever they saw me walking on the sand. I literally was like “Why’s everyone laughing?” Only for them to be like “Have you never walked on the sand before?” I was like “Yes, what is everyone on???” Only to realize that I was the only one practically fighting for my life walking on the sand. It didn’t help that I was also flailing my arms for balance whenever I took a step. I know sand is hard to walk on even for people without hEDS/HSD but I didn’t assume that the struggle looked super noticeable in comparison.
Overall it was a good time minus the sand being stupidly hard to walk on. But it is another thing to keep in mind to prevent hurting myself whenever I go out to the beach.
