Always have strong portfolio samples in your profile. And if the profile doesn't work, don't be afraid to switch expertise. I started as a technical writer but after Al I switched to WordPress. I helped a client hire a while back and you can see a person who has not put any effort from a mile away. Alafu if possible apply jobs with 5-10 proposals max.
