How to find a rental while unemployed?

As the title says - how do I find a rental while I'm unemployed? I do not know if savings in the bank will help (roughly 4 months of my budget weekly rent).

For context - I've spent a while dreaming about a move out of the CBD and now is a perfect time to do so. My stuff is all in storage and are currently sleeping in a family member spare room (we lost our last rental when landlord returned), my job with a not-for-profit is about to end next week, and my son is due to start school next year. But, I have no idea how to find a rental without employment if where I'm looking to move.

I had a loyal pair of black wide leg pants that I wore religiously once per week in my corporate setting. They were perfect. Side zip, fabric belt tied at the front, no pockets, tailored, no elastic. With weight fluctuations from a 12-16 and all around over the years, these magical pair of pants were an incredible and flattering fit no matter what.

4 weeks ago, the zipper jammed at a work event. I couldn’t go to the bathroom and it was a horrible rest of the evening while I held on, stopped drinking and than sped home at the end.

I literally tore the pants off me as i walked in the door. The relief of being free to pee was sweet but short lived as I looked at my dead pants on the floor.

I’ve tried Myer, target, portmans and almost every other brick and mortar store local to my area, but none are offering up even close to my dream pants. Not only that, but these tokito pants were a size 12 - nothing in store below a 16 fit me which is totally fine but wtf is happening with sizing these days?

I’m going to have to resort to online shopping but I’m so so so out of touch with what’s reputable and not just drop shipped fast fashion out of a factory.

I’m a premenopausal mum who has hit that point of fearing change room lighting and mirrors, adores an elastic waist band and throws my bra off as soon as I get home. I’m jiggly, squishy, and ok with it!

If you read this far - perhaps you can suggest where I can shop online?
