Hello everyone!
I'm a BSc student majoring in Computer Science and I'm currently taking a Human Computer Interaction class. Our final assignment is centered around the process of doing PACT (people, activities, context, technology) analysis regarding a specific issue, to then design a prototype for a theoretical device that would solve or mitigate this concern.
The problem we chose to tackle is the potential technological gap between musicians and the instrumentation that they have to use to play live or use rehearsal rooms. A performer might not be proficient in the use of equipment like mixers or recording software; can we design the spaces they use (like a rehearsal room) to minimize the amount of pre-existing knowledge needed to utilize these environments to their full extent? Or even then, can we make the interaction as thoughtless and straight-forward as possible?
We're currently collecting opinions, thoughts and stories from musicians, especially those with a more classical background or who don't have a lot of experience with the more "technical" side of music. If that's you, please help us out and answer our questionnaire! It's very short (about 5 minutes) and has only closed form questions; any feedback we can get will help us tremendously. If you don't think this questionnaire is for you but you know someone else who might fit the profile, please consider sharing it with them.
Thank you so much for reading this, if this is not the correct space to share this please contact me and I'll remove the post ASAP. If you happen to know other forums or communities where I can post this please let me know!
Have a beautiful day :)
