searching for the best modular furniture for small spaces that won't make the room feel like a claustrophobic box

hi everyone, right now im struggling to figure out how to fit a functional living area into a floor plan that is basically the size of a postage stamp. currently looking for something that actually can be rearranged when the layout inevitably needs to change.

i’ve seen those tiny apartment-sized sets from the big box stores but im not a fan of the quality: they look a bit rock hard. either that or they look incredibly cheap. in terms of style, i’m leaning towards more midmod and/or japandi. also something comfortable and easy to clean and maintain.

He's not a phone person and we're not a particularly expressive family. we love each other but we don't really perform it. calls are usually for last minute grocery item purchases or problems.

A few months ago he figured out voice messages and started sending them randomly. just stuff like there was a really good sunset tonight or i made that soup your mother used to make, turned out alright. thirty seconds, no context needed, no response required.

I have a folder of them now. i listen to them on bad days. i don't think he knows that's what they've become for me and i'm not sure i want to tell him because something about it feels right as it is.
