TL:DR
Will I enjoy Slovenia August if I want to avoid big crowds, traffic and general travel misery?

Hello Slovenian locals and travelers, esp. if you visited last Summer: How bad is the traffic and crowds really?

So far, I've been warned by one experienced traveler that all Summer, Slovenia & Trieste are total madness, a nightmare of gridlock and sold out hotels, no rental cars available and hellish Summer heat.

I must go in August, because I'm taking my 20yo son with me. I need to deliver him to Athens on August 28th for a college program

👍🏼Things I'd like to do:
Visit a professional beekeeper if possible (that's my job)

Visit walkable medieval towns (not ruins) where I stop frequently for small meals and snacks

Travel by train if possible. If you've been to Budapest, those electric trams that go all over the city are my ideal form of transportation

NOT:
🚫Drive for hours to see a waterfall
Hike for hours up and down a mountain (bad ankles)
🚫Spend a week in a big dirty noisy city
(I live in Los Angeles, so I need a break from the urban jungle)

If anyone was in Slovenia last August, please let me know about your experience.

Hvala!
