Lyft driver kicked us out when I asked him to turn off his Christian music
My 90 year old grandpa and myself are in Honolulu. He lived here for thirty years, but hasn't been here in 22 years! Trip of a lifetime! So we were in Kapi'olani park and called for a ride to his old house in the Saint Louis Heights area. Lyft driver came, we got in. No problem. Except his Christian praise and worship music. It wasn't *overly* loud, but it wore on both of us quickly, and I kindly asked him to kill the music. He said something about us getting out. Now the driver is like Filipino and can't seem to speak good English, so I figured there was a language barrier that was creating a misunderstanding, so I asked him to turn off the music. He told us we must get out. I was kind of stunned and unsure what was happening, but yep, as he was pulling aside I repeated "Can you just turn the music off please?". By this time he'd stopped and ordered us out.
He'd simply dropped us on the side of the road with no shade in high heat and humidity. I quickly ordered another LYFT which took around 12 minutes, and we walked a ways to find a park bench to wait. By this time grandpa was sort of getting shaky and really didn't understand what was happening. I reached LYFT and told them what was happening, requested a refund, and they actually called me on the phone (WOW). Needless to say they were NOT pleased at what he'd done.
