Podiatrist appointment
Hello,
I went to see a podiatrist today and felt quite disappointed.
I'm 36, had issues with flat feet for years, tried insoles for a while as I have developed bunions and so no progress. I switched Ed to barefoot shoes a year ago and have been aiming for shoes that are wide and very flexible. I spoke with a podiatrist today that told me to get shoes that allow my foot to rock. With thicker soles and no flexibility to avoid overbearing the joint. The new shoes I've been using have been great, but I think a big role has been played by the fact that they are much more wide than anything I've been using for years.(which probably contributed or caused my bunions in the first place)
She did give me some exercises to strengthen the muscles which I intend to do religiously. But I feel that all my efforts to get better shoes were in vain...
Is this just a difference of opinion to a common goal? I have no medical degree, nor the audacity to argue with a much more qualified person than me but I do feel at odds as to what to do next in terms of footwear.
