DnB Ape Together Strong

Hey Yall,

Everyone knows, making beats alone on your PC does get lonely and tiresome after a while.

Straight up, im looking for people who want to collaborate that would share a similar vibe and skill level to cook something up together.

I like all things drum and bass, but with a definite preference for Dancefloor and Liquid, but also would be very interested to explore harder styles.

Hit me up here if anyone is interested.

Disclaimer: sorry if not right for this subreddit

To the point, i have a very cool, audio sensitive visualizer built in to my FL Studio which can produce some really cool stuff along to the music playing.

I was wondering if there is anything adjacent to that for DJing to enhance the event? Something that takes a line from the output and can react to the music put through it?

Hello Y’all,

Following a set i played on a BBQ outdoors in public, I’ve absolutely became convinced being able to show up and just throw a party for people is amazing.

That time i took my own home soundbar + Sub, Laptop, FLX4 and a portable power supply that lasted me for hours, all transportable by a medium sized cart. Felt amazing how much i can get out of something thats still mobile, even on foot.

I would want to ask for some guidance on what PA would be a sensible choice should i want to engage 50-80 people with it.

I’ve gone to Gemini to try and get an idea. Is this bullshit or actually good picks for the Hardware?

The "Park Pro" Equipment Stack

• EcoFlow Delta 2 (Power)
• Rationale: Efficient, Robust, Fast-charging, Steady.
• Aluminum Speaker Stands
• Rationale: Necessary, Elevating, Stable, Lightweight.
• Balanced XLR Cables
• Rationale: Shielded, Professional, Noise-free, Secure.

Yo!

TLDR: Like the title - Any tips for first timers and for playing outdoors to a mixed crowd?

So, i got my FLX-4 not even a month ago and I absolutely fell in love with it. I’ve been mixing fot hours almost everyday on Rekordbox and i can’t have enough and also feel like im learning super quickly.

My friends are throwing a BBQ today in a public park and there will be quite a lot of people and i decided i’m going to be unnecessarily extra and spontaneous and rent a large battery pack, buy a card and haul my laptop, DDJ, garden table and my home soundsystem out there and either play a set or just DJ the entire event.

I have to assume a random crowd, with maybe a preference towards rap. \~30yos is the demographic. I myself love DnB, but i probably have to cool it for that party or feel them out, right?

Anyway, i thought ahead about getting gaffer tape and a tarp to secure any cables and protect against rain in case, i have a chair if i get tired, my phone for unlimited internet hotspot, a cart to drag it all around, HDMI connection between my laptop and Soundbar + Sub (*virtually 0 latency, even though the sub is bluetooth, which is weird but nice)*

So my questions are: What do i do to have a great set? :)

I am sure im gonna have fun myself and thats the whole point, but if there are any good practices or considerations for this situation that you know and want to share, please do!

Thanks in advance, folks!

Yo,

Just got a FLX-4 3 weeks ago and i absolutely fell in love. I've been on that thing constantly during that time and been driving my girlfriend crazy with constant Drum and Bass playing in the living room :D

I have a bunch of random questions about all sorts of things, so if you know the answer or have an opinion in general, please share:

- Key Shifting seems to really not make sense past +- 2 semitones, cause it really distorts the sound? Any workaround for this?

- I can feel so much power in STEMS, but it's really hit and miss with some tracks. Is it a thing to get clean stems separately and have Serato digest them the correct way for clean mixing?

- db meter =/= perceived loudness. Sometimes it's tragically different volumes, absolutely killing the energy. Is there a way to know if i should trim up/down a track before i load it in? (I know listening to everything and prepping solves this, but on the fly)

- It's said that FLX-4 expertise transfers a great deal to a proper club CDJ. How much truth is there to it? What will be different?

- Grand majority of the effects seem... unusable? I find myself only relying on low-cut Echo on the release FX, V.break and sweep on the pad fx and Vaporize on the knob fx (rarely). Others just seem to be super chaotic and really make a mess. Thoughts?

- Is it ALWAYS advisable to cut bass on one deck when both drops/choruses are playing? I always do it, since bass clashes, but my brother sometimes lets both sides rip with bass during drops and it doesn't sound super bad? Might've been the listening setup though that was somehow masking issues.

- I primarily play Drum and Bass. Any genre-specific tips you can share? How to know which tracks will double drop well?

- What are some DJ Faux Pas to avoid?

Cheers!

Hey guys,

So, I've recently gotten Splice for the first time and it was the biggest unlock in my Drum and Bass production ever. After 10 years of producing not great not terrible tracks, for the first time, i genuinly feel this is something i can be proud of.

My biggest inspirations for this track are not super original: Sub-Focus, Wilkinson, Metrik, Hybrid Minds, that kind of vibe.

Please give me your feedback about this track. Mix, melodies, arrangement, sound design, anything goes.

I want to seriously pursue music as a career, so i don't want to miss here. Am i crazy?

P.S. Vocals are placeholder from Splice for now

P.S. The bass growls in the breakdown are trash for now, i know, i just dont know how to make good ones yet haha.

Appreciate any/all the feedback you can give!
