Barangay Talomo was once a Hemp production hub of Davao City

Before the Second World War, Talomo was once a hemp/abaca (Manila Hemp) trading center of Davao City, alongside Mintal, courtesy of the Ohta Development Company.

It was complete with a possible hemp mill, hemp processing workshops, and a jetty and landing platform to ship the processed hemps.

Pre-WW2 era houses in Toril that still exists today.

Located just a short distance from the former Furukawa Plantation in Daliao, Toril, these houses have stood since the Second World War, as confirmed by 1944 aerial reconnaissance. In those wartime images, the location was labeled as a "Personnel Area."

Today, the neighborhood is primarily residential. Only a few of these original structures remain, houses that still visually carry traces of the city's past.

The old houses near the center of Davao City.

Several houses near the center of Davao City are still standing to this day. These have stood for decades, as seen in this aerial image taken in 1944, or 82 years ago.

These most likely survived the Second World War, and were renovated/restored throughout the years. Two of these were converted to restaurants (Tola and Blondi&Bourke) while still preserving most of the structure and interior.
