My house burned down in a major fire that wiped out half of my town. I went to sprint and explained that the phone was burned in the fire and I was paying for it due to being in a contract but it was my exs phone so it wasn’t actually being used. Sprint said they’d wipe the debt since they could see the phone wasn’t used in months.
I was on disability for my epilepsy and didn’t need to build my credit. I had a brain surgery to get rid of my epilepsy and now about to start a family. So I’m needing to build my credit for a future home. I had never received any notices from collections. I signed up on Credit Karma and found my debt from sprint was transferred to T-Mobile during the merge and I’ve been in collections since 2023. I just received a notice from collections that they lowered it from $2200 to $1600. I didn’t keep any records from sprint saying my debt was wiped. What do I do to get this dismissed? I can’t get ahold of anyone at T-Mobile that will help me with this. I’m hoping to get pointers on what to do before I contact collections. I’ve never dealt with anything like this so I’m lost on what to do!
