Warning long** TLDR at end
With Penta on vacation, I had a chance to bounce around and check out different POVs on the server today and honestly, it wasn’t a great day for Chase RP.
My morning started with Kyle, who was clearly getting frustrated playing his crim character. He said it felt like everyone constantly snitches with no fear of repercussions and police responses being overly aggressive for throwing a waffle he might as well just stab someone Its just frustrating. After he managed to get away they actually called him expecting him to act stupid and “meet up” which just annoyed him more.
I then watched Soupes for a little. He seems completely disinterested in playing Chase at all right now. I thought maybe with penta being on vacation and him saying he was really enjoying the people he was roleplaying with before everything went sour he might make an appearance but he doesn’t even seem interested in messing around on the server at all. I enjoyed his streams and the office Rp he did so it sucks to see him stepping away from chase.
After that, I watched Thrive for a bit. Things seemed fine until he tried to do a traffic stop, and the person just got out, stabbed him with a Kroc, and drove off. That tilted him enough that he just logged off and said traffic stops are some how actually better on no pixel which says alot.
I checked in on Millz a little later and he was getting arrested on Slim. It looked like he was trying to keep the situation lighthearted and fun, but something in the interaction came off as vague OOC comments to him. He ended up getting off Chase after getting 200 months in jail and talking to his chat for a while. Ill be honest I missed part of what happened since I stepped away for about 10 minutes, but I caught the conversation afterward. He was saying that most of the Ballas don’t want to play on Chase right now and he understands why, because he’s not feeling it either. A month ago, he said he couldn’t wait to get on and play, that he was going to bed thinking about playing the next day and now that feeling is just gone.
He also talked about how, before the Ballas left, it felt like everything was blamed on them along with constant admin tickets and complaints. He took a break, and now after coming back from a 14 day hut the southside just feels dead.
That conversation led to him announcing he’s been working on a server with around 11 devs. He said they’re planning to release a teaser trailer in about a month if everything goes well. It’s been in development on and off for about a year, but they’ve really been putting more time into it recently. Honestly that’s pretty cool and I’m happy for him. He seemed genuinely excited.
(Also side note his RP podcasts have been really good lately. Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t)
Finally, I caught JamJar’s stream, and he just seemed defeated and frustrated. I watched when Penta lost that car in a chase Sunday night and said he was going to nerf tuner cars and talked about wanting to remove upgraded parts. At the time, I figured it was just a kneejerk reaction that there’s no way he’d actually go through with something that would hurt the car scene after people invested so much into upgrades. And it was one of the more active corners of the server right now. It would’ve made more sense to buff cop cars, especially with performance mode coming in the next patch.
But no he actually went through with it and nerfed a ton of high end cars while less popular cars that are arguably more problematic were left untouched.
Jam seemed genuinely upset, and honestly, I don’t blame him.
At this point, I don’t see the vision Penta talks about. From a viewers perspective what am i supposed to be excited or invested in? More and more streamers seem to be showing frustration and confusion with the state of things. These aren’t just “Hate Watchers” saying it. Multiple areas of the server are struggling and need attention or direction.
What worries me most is that if something isn’t important to him, he flat out doesnt care. Hes said so himself multiple times. Like lets be real this kidney mechanic stuff might sound cool when he talks about it with chat and make for a funny Jimmy stream but all its gunna do is make people not do drugs at all because they dont wanna deal with it. Arent there more pressing things the devs could have worked on?
The Paleto election is another example and maybe the most frustrating. What even was the point? Paleto was the most interesting concept of the server and he has no plans for it. Its literally just a spawn point for public players to leave and go to the white listed area. No one wants to do boarder RP. He cant get people to run Paleto how he envisioned it and now nothing really came from any of the military stuff or the election. To make matters worse He isnt going to play Jordan consistently enough to build Paleto up because it doesnt bring in the subs. So its a dead plot point making him the president there. He talked about letting people sell drugs out of Paleto with Jordan’s approval, but how is that any different from what he was complaining about two months ago? He wasnt around on Pryor then he isnt going to be around on Jordan now. At least back then, cops were watching the border.
Hopefully things improve, but from a viewer perspective, today was rough.
I mostly wrote this to see if anyone else had a similar experience watching today and what issues they saw people talking about with Chase and what could realistically be improved.
Also just to be clear i dont think anyone was talking ill of Penta more just talking about frustrations with how things are going.
