Logix Imax is a scam
So first of all, I have watched many IMAX movies at Logix IMAX, like Avatar, F1, Demon Slayer, and Oppenheimer, and I know how they are supposed to look.
Now coming back to Project Hail Mary,
My show was scheduled for 9:45 AM on 10th April 2026. The auditorium gates were opened at 10:02 AM, I do not know why. The movie was already running and was paused right before it actually started, skipping the iconic IMAX countdown and the movie’s producer tags and all that stuff. And when you are going to IMAX, these things are really important for a good experience.
The moment I walked into the theater and saw the paused video, I instantly noticed that the picture quality was way off. The image was very grainy from beginning to end, not clear at all. The subtitles had some weird distortion around their edges. The video honestly looked like 720p with a lot of moving grain. For a moment, I thought maybe the movie itself was like this, but then I remembered what my friend said when he watched it at IMAX DLF, he said it was very clear and the experience was epic.
I am aware that Logix has a 2K digital xenon projector while DLF has a 4K laser, but it still should not look this bad. My experience with Avatar and F1 here was really good and the image was very clear. This time, however, it was full of grain and looked like a cam recording.
The second issue was the constant rattling sound from my right side and a faint noise from my left. This kept bothering me throughout the movie. I do not know if my ears are just more sensitive, but even the people beside me did not say much. I went with a friend. He did not notice it in the first half, but in the second half, when a scene was quiet, he also said he could hear it.
We discussed all of this with both managers, about the grainy 720p picture quality, the constant rattling, and skipping the IMAX intro, because these are exactly what we are paying for, a better experience with great picture quality.
The scene when they switched to infrared wavelength to see the astrophage and petrova line was supposed to be clear and epic. That is why I chose IMAX, but it was terrible. It looked even worse when one color dominated the screen, full of moving grain and bad quality.
Both managers said that no one in the past 15 days of the movie had complained about this, and I was like, so what. If they do not notice these things, should I keep quiet too. The managers said that the picture was fine and that the sound was from AC vents and not noticeable, which made no sense as i could hear it throughout.
Also, the problem is partly with the audience. Either they do not notice, or they do not even know what they are paying for. It was my friend’s first time in IMAX, and even he instantly noticed the bad picture quality. Of course, the managers would say everything is fine. Why would they admit to providing a bad experience when no one else is raising concerns.
People were passing by us during the interval while I was talking to the managers, and no one seemed to care. Honestly, it feels like people just accept anything. I lost my money, and now I would rather go to a normal theater than IMAX Logix, or maybe go to one in Delhi instead. And lowkey people deserve to get scammed if they are this unaware of things. There were like 40 people and none, absolutely none raised any complaints or even tried to enquire what we were talking.
But yeah, Logix IMAX is a scam. Do not go there. You will definitely lose your money.
I will be leaving a review on Google so if anyone else could too that do be great.
I lost my money, but you save yours.
