Sister fired for caste discrimination.

We have anti-caste discrimination legislation here in California because it’s become a pretty big issue at some of the tech companies.

My sister, who is just a year out of UC Irvine, got fired for bullying one of her coworkers along with a group of “mean girls” in the office. She showed me some of the texts they sent to this poor gal, and they were legit super abusive and insane, “ Filthy Dalit Pig, roach infested tribeswoman” etc. It’s not a huge surprise she got fired because it’s a huge HR nightmare and the gal could have easily sued. Honestly probably will still sue. My sister feels remorseful but is honestly more mad that the girl “ratted her out”

I’m letting her sleep on my couch until she gets back on her feet, which has been kinda stressful due to her repeatedly smoking weed in the apartment, which is only a one bedroom. I get drug tested for work, and if she weren’t my sister who I love, I would have kicked her out by now. I have no idea why she even cared about this woman’s alleged caste background bc we’re white (mainly Norwegian) and have zero connections to the Indian Subcontinent at all. Unless I completely missed something she’s also never been to India. She’s not a practicing Hindu, or any religion for that matter. We grew up in LA and there honestly weren’t a ton of Indian people, mainly Chinese.

I shut her down when she tried to talk about our “Ashraf status” and told her my new house rules were for her to stop smoking weed, stop talking about caste bullshit and to find a new job.

On Thursday I got a fraud notification after somebody bought a business class Air India ticket from SFO to Visakhapatnam. I wigged the fuck out until she said that our parents had “given her permission to use my card.” Turns out that my parents did tell her that, but it’s my fucking credit card!!! They have never given me any money! My Dad left me a voice mail saying that he was “disappointed that I was becoming racist towards South Asian people”, which is total bullshit. I’ve always said I have wanted to travel to India for a month and travel the railroads since I was like a 10 year old. I love Indian people!

Anybody have advice on this or been in a similar situation?
