Best Criminal Background Check Sites According to Reddit Users? Only Legit Options

I’m a relatively new landlord and currently going through the stressful process of screening tenants for one of my rental properties. I’ve been getting a surprising number of applications every week, and while some people seem completely fine during showings, I’ve realized it’s still important to properly verify who you’re renting to before signing a long-term lease.

Because of that, I started researching the best criminal background check sites and honestly got overwhelmed fast.

There are hundreds of review websites ranking tools like TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, BeenVerified, Spokeo, PeopleFinders, Judy Records, Checkr, etc, but most of those articles feel heavily sponsored or written by AI. Reddit discussions seem way more honest, so I figured I’d ask here directly.

What I’m mainly looking for:

  • criminal record searches
  • eviction history
  • public records
  • identity verification
  • address history
  • possible aliases
  • maybe even social media/account lookup if available

I don’t necessarily need something free. Accuracy matters more to me than saving a few dollars, especially if I’m trusting someone with a property worth lakhs over the long term.

So far, the names I keep seeing mentioned everywhere are:

  • TruthFinder
  • Instant Checkmate
  • BeenVerified
  • Spokeo
  • PeopleFinders
  • Judy Records
  • Checkr

But I’m still confused about:

  • which one is actually the most accurate
  • which updates criminal records fastest
  • which one has the best tenant screening features
  • which services are mostly marketing hype

For people here who’ve actually used background check websites before:

  • Which one gave you the best results?
  • Which sites should be avoided?
  • Are paid reports significantly better than free public record searches?
  • Has anyone compared them with official county court databases?
  • Which background check service is best overall in 2026?

Please share your real experiences instead of fake review blog recommendations. Thanks

I’ve been working a regular 8–5 job for a while now, and honestly, it’s wearing me down. The pay barely covers what I need, the work is exhausting, and I can’t picture doing this for the next 20 years. I’m at a point where I really want to find a way to earn online and create something more flexible.

I’m completely new to making money on the internet, so I have no idea what’s actually realistic. I’m not expecting overnight riches, even a steady daily income that helps cover bills would make a huge difference. For anyone who started from zero, what path would you recommend?

I’m trying to figure out the best home equity loans for bad credit and could really use some honest advice from people who’ve actually been through this.

My credit score took a hit over the past couple years because of some missed payments and high balances, but I’ve built up a decent amount of equity in my home. I’m now looking into home equity loans to consolidate debt and handle a few major expenses, but a lot of lenders seem super strict once your credit isn’t great.

Has anyone here gotten approved with bad credit recently? Which lenders or credit unions were actually reasonable to work with? Please let me know, if there are any recommendations for me.

After spending around three weeks in China, arriving in Japan honestly felt surreal. No place is perfect, but the difference in everyday manners really stood out to me. There’s a level of order and consideration in public spaces that makes daily life feel noticeably smoother.

In China, getting off a train or elevator often feels like you need to brace yourself because people rush in before others can even step out. Add in the public smoking and occasional spitting, and it starts wearing on you. Japan has its own flaws too, some busy nightlife areas definitely have smokers out on the streets, but overall, the contrast is huge.

Some people say Japan can feel overly strict or too formal, but after experiencing both, that structure is exactly what makes it so refreshing.

Lately I’ve been getting a lot of random calls and missed calls from unknown numbers. Some seem like spam, but a few look legit, and I’m not sure which ones to ignore anymore.

I’ve tried Googling a couple of them, but it’s pretty hit or miss. Most of the time I either find nothing useful or end up on sites that look sketchy and ask for payment upfront.

I don’t mind paying if the service is actually accurate and reliable. Just trying to avoid wasting money on something that barely gives real info.

Please let me know if there’s anything that actually works well (free or paid)?

Apologies if this has been asked before, I tried searching but didn’t find much. Whether it’s something small or a big game-changer (even airport-specific), what’s a tip that really opened your eyes?

I’m looking for real ways to make money online from home that are free to start and work fast. Not the usual wait months stuff, but more unconventional or slightly dirty methods people don’t openly share.

I’ve tried different methods, but the results are slow and inconsistent. Please let me know about hidden or underrated online money-making methods that can bring in cash within days.

What are the fastest ways you’ve personally made money online with no investment? Any smart tricks, loopholes, or lesser-known hustles that actually work?
