Skeptical: Specialist said he'd need a max of 1800 grafts to fill in my crown AND lower my hairline to a feminine shape (gender transition). Is that really enough?
Instead of the standard male hairline restoration, I actually want the temples completely rounded down to look as feminine as possible (MtF transition)
My temples have always been rather high, so I don't think my hairline has actually receded that much (maybe some thinning at the front). It's mostly my crown that's lost a lot of hair.
The specialist, a reputable hair surgeon in Belgium, Europe, said that more than 1800 grafts would be overkill and wouldn't help (and outcompete each other) but the number feels low if I considered the amount of surface to be filled.
In all other aspects, the consultation made me feel confident in his skills and consistency (including female hairlines), but that number makes me doubt, and wonder if I should get a consultation elsewhere (and have to pay again for that)
I'm 30 years old, I've been on dutasteride for a year and my loss has stabilised, but I'd rather not use minoxidil for multiple reasons, so if I can get my desired result with only a transplant and dutasteride maintenance, that'd be ideal.
