Timelines Skip Guide
Hello all, decided to make this lil guide. I'm a new player and just couldn't be bothered to do all the timelines missions to unlock the DLC ships, and couldn't really find information about how to skip it without copying someone's save, so I just ended up figuring it out myself. If you're a new player who doesn't want to do timelines or a veteran player who never got around to it and you don't want to mess up your save, this should help.
Step 1 - Backup your files, just incase. I didn't have any issues, but better to be safe if you have a long playthrough.
Step 2 - Download the text files from the google drive, or you can even just double click on the file and it will pop up, which you can then copy/paste from there. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1jPdsUfkhTezwKg6c7B3EA_LRlLrYn-Wp?usp=sharing
Step 3 - Navigate to the files we need to access | Documents > Egosoft > x4 > *Steam ID* .. You should then see two files in there called Userdata and Userdata_signed.
Step 4 - Edit the Userdata file with notepad++, scroll all the way down and you will see a line at the bottom which says </root>, click infront of </root> and hit enter so it goes down a line, now click on the empty line above it and take the downloaded text from the google drive, and copy/paste it there. Make sure everything is lined up correctly and </root> is below the text you just pasted and in the correct spot. You can now hit save.
Step 5 - Just do the exact same with the Userdata_signed file, edit and copy/paste at the bottom and hit save.
You should now be able to load into timelines, and it will be all completed. You can then load into the open universe, and you will get a message saying The universe has been altered, and shows all your unlocks.
I tried to make it as easy as possible for people who don't usually mess around with xml files. Hope this helps!
