Studio Driver 596.36 - 5080 Fan Speed Bug and Fix
Issue: I updated from Studio Driver 595.79 to Studio Driver 596.36 and experienced significant fan speed bugs with my Asus 5080 ROG Astral. The fan speed would sporadically change from 0% to 100% while sitting on the desktop with only background tasks running and sometimes just sit on 100%. looking on google I tried reverting to the known stable driver and the same issue was occurring. I checked all monitoring software (HW-info, msi afterburner, asus GPU tweak). All showed incorrect fan speed based on my physical observation (software showing 30% fan PWM ~700RPM but the noise and view of the fan was ~100% PWM).
Fix: I tried the TechPowerUp DDU display driver uninstaller (internet disconnected) and did a fresh install of Studio Driver 595.79 direct from NVIDIA. This fixed the issues and haven't experienced it since.
