How to enclose closet under basement stairs correctly?
I had my basement finished and left 3 sections unfinished, one of which is under the stairs. I realize now this area needs to be finished since I opened up the area under the stairs. At first I thought it would just be under the stairs but it seems I'd need to enclose everything and I'm not sure if its worth it.
At first I thought it would just be under the stairs, then I thought 1 wall, and the ceiling. But I have an access nook on the opposite wall and I'm not sure I can leave that open. I'm also not sure If i need to be below the sill plate, and if I need to do anything.
Does the whole room need drywalled to meet code? Or only the area under the stairs? Should I just put the framing up that was there before and just close that area back up? Better to leave framing or put drywall there only.
I'm not sure what most people do here, but I'd rather fix it enough that I don't have to worry about it when I eventually sell.
