The unknown is so scary
37f. Noticed that my nipple appeared to be flatter than normal. Went in for breast exam and was told it appeared to be normal and no lumps were found, but since it was a change, got referred for a mammogram and ultrasound. Mammogram stated that tissue was heterogeneously dense but no masses found. Went in for ultrasound and was informed that there was a small mass found and due to the shape, the doctor considered it to be “indeterminate” or a heterogeneous complex mass. Next step, biopsy. Can’t help myself from googling. My searches lead me from high probability of being nothing to a possibility of stage IV types. I didn’t even ask anything when the doctor was telling me this information because I was processing so hard.
My biopsy was scheduled quickly for this week. Then the hardest part will be waiting for pathology to put my mind at rest or to change my whole life.
What kinds of things should I be asking at the biopsy and afterwards? Everything feels so overwhelming.
